Our Brothers (And Sisters) Keeper?

CAL THOMAS COMMENTARY APRIL 11, 2017

THEY CAME TO WORSHIP ON PALM SUNDAY AND THEY WERE MURDERED INSTEAD. TWO TERRORIST ATTACKS ON EGYPTIAN COPTIC CHRISTIAN CHURCHES LEFT AT LEAST 44 DEAD AND SCORES WOUNDED. AS USUAL, ISIS CLAIMED CREDIT THOUGH THERE IS NO PROOF ANYONE ASSOCIATED WITH THAT TERRORIST GROUP WAS RESPONSIBLE.

AMONG THE QUESTIONS BEING RAISED IS WHY EGYPT CAN’T DO A BETTER JOB PROTECTING ITS CHRISTIAN MINORITY FROM MUSLIM FANATICS? THIS IS A COMPELLING QUESTION GIVEN THE PLANNED VISIT TO EGYPT AT THE END OF THE MONTH BY POPE FRANCIS. ISIS WANTS TO FOMENT RELIGIOUS STRIFE AND HAS LONG TARGETED THE POPE FOR DEATH.

ANOTHER QUESTION: WHY AREN’T THE WORLD’S CHRISTIANS MORE VOCAL AND SUPPORTIVE OF OUR BROTHERS AND SISTERS UNDER PERSECUTION AND ATTACK? OUR JEWISH FRIENDS RALLY WHEN THEY ARE TARGETED. AND WE KNOW HOW LOUD MUSLIMS ARE AT EVEN A PERCEIVED SLIGHT, MUCH LESS AN ATTACK ON ONE OF THEIRS. THIS HAS LONG PUZZLED ME.

FOLLOWERS OF JESUS SEEM PREOCCUPIED WITH THINGS OTHER THAN CARING FOR FELLOW BELIEVERS. TRUE, JESUS SAID WE WOULD FACE PERSECUTION, EVEN DEATH, BECAUSE OF HIS NAME, BUT THAT DOES NOT EXCUSE ANY OF US FROM SPEAKING OUT AND PRAYING FOR THOSE FOR WHOM JESUS GAVE HIS LIFE. I’M CAL THOMAS IN WASHINGTON.
