Puerto Rico And Politics

CAL THOMAS COMMENTARY OCTOBER 5, 2017

EVERYTHING IS POLITICAL THESE DAYS, EVEN THE WEATHER.

NOTICE HOW THE LEFT HAD NOTHING TO CRITICIZE ABOUT THE TRUMP ADMINISTRATION’S FAST RESPONSE TO THE TWO HURRICANES THAT STRUCK TEXAS AND FLORIDA THIS SUMMER. THAT’S BECAUSE THEY DID A GREAT JOB. IT HELPED THAT MANY VOLUNTEERS CAME IN FROM OTHER CITIES AND STATES AND IT HELPED THAT POWER LINES AND SERVICES WERE EASIER TO RESTORE THAN IN PUERTO RICO. THERE ARE MOUNTAINS IN PUERTO RICO AND AREAS THAT ARE HARD TO GET TO. POWER HAS BEEN OUT ALL OVER THE ISLAND AND ROADS COVERED WITH DEBRIS MAKING ACCESS DIFFICULT. DEMOCRATS ARE BLAMING THE PRESIDENT, BUT THEY WOULD NOT HAVE DONE BETTER GIVEN THE CONDITIONS.

DEMOCRATS ARE NOW REJOICING THAT LARGE NUMBERS OF PUERTO RICANS ARE MOVING TO FLORIDA. THEY THINK THEIR VOTES WILL TIP THAT SWING STATE TO THEIR COLUMN IN FUTURE ELECTIONS. HOW CYNICAL.

THIS IS WHY SO MANY PEOPLE HATE POLITICS AND WHY SO MANY GOOD PEOPLE DON’T WANT TO GET INTO IT. WORKING TOGETHER FOR THE BENEFIT OF ALL HAS BECOME QUAINT. IT’S ALL ABOUT GAINING POWER AND WHEN PEOPLE GET IT, THEY USE IT NOT TO PROMOTE THE GENERAL WELFARE, BUT THEIR OWN POLITICAL WELFARE. I’M CAL THOMAS IN WASHINGTON.
