The North Korean Threat

CAL THOMAS COMMENTARY JULY 6, 2017

NORTH KOREAN DICTATOR KIM JONG-UN HAS CONDUCTED ANOTHER MISSILE TEST. THIS ONE WENT 40 MILES AND LANDED IN THE SEA OF JAPAN. KIM CLAIMS IT WAS A TEST TO SEE IF AN ICBM COULD REACH AMERICA, OR ANYWHERE ELSE IN THE WORLD. HE SAYS HE CAN NOW FIRE ON ALASKA, MAYBE LOS ANGELES.

PRESIDENT TRUMP HAS TOLD CHINA’S PRESIDENT AND NORTH KOREA’S PROTECTOR THAT IF CHINA WON’T ACT TO CURTAIL KIM’S NUCLEAR AMBITIONS, THE U.S. WILL GO IT ALONE.

THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS BUSINESS. A NUCLEAR ARMED NORTH KOREA, JOINING WITH A NUCLEAR IRAN WILL PRESENT A CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGER, NOT ONLY TO AMERICA, BUT TO THE WORLD.

KIM MUST BE OUSTED FROM POWER, BUT HOW TO DO IT? WOULD A NAVY SEAL TEAM LIKE THE ONE THAT TOOK OUT OSAMA BIN LADEN BE ABLE TO REPLICATE ITS SUCCESS IN NORTH KOREA? IT’S DOUBTFUL AND EVEN IF THEY DID SUCCEED, WOULD KIM’S GENERALS REFRAIN FROM ATTACKING SOUTH KOREA, INCLUDING THE 30,000 U.S. TROOPS THERE?

THIS COULD BE THE MOST DIFFICULT DECISION PRESIDENT TRUMP WILL MAKE. WE HAD BETTER PRAY HE MAKES THE RIGHT ONE. I’M CAL THOMAS IN WASHINGTON.
