To Attack N. Korea, Or Not?

CAL THOMAS COMMENTARY MAY 17, 2017

WHAT IS TO BE DONE ABOUT NORTH KOREA? OVER LAST WEEKEND KIM JONG-UN LAUNCHED ANOTHER MISSILE TEST. HE CLAIMS THIS LATEST ONE WOULD HAVE BEEN CAPABLE OF HITTING THE U.S. MAINLAND WITH A NUCLEAR WARHEAD.

HAD THE TRAJECTORY BEEN DIFFERENT FROM THE ONE USED IN THE TEST FIRING, EXPERTS SAY IT COULD HAVE TRAVELED 2500 MILES, FAR ENOUGH TO REACH THE U.S. MAINLAND. KIM SAYS THAT WILL HAPPEN IF THE U.S. ATTACKS HIS REGIME. WHILE HE HAS LIED IN THE PAST, HE DESERVES TO BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY THIS TIME.

PRESIDENT TRUMP AND THE GENERALS HE LIKES TO DEFER TO HAVE A MAJOR DECISION TO MAKE. DO THEY RISK AN ATTACK ON SOUTH KOREA BY THOUSANDS OF COMMUNIST TROOPS IF THEY TRY TO REMOVE KIM AND/OR TAKE OUT HIS MISSILE SITES, OR DO THEY LET HIM CONTINUE HIS PROGRAM, BECOME FULLY OPERATIONAL WITH ONE OR MORE ICBMS CARRYING NUCLEAR WARHEADS AND RISK NUCLEAR BLACKMAIL?

THERE IS NO TOUGHER DECISION A PRESIDENT HAS TO MAKE THAN THIS ONE. WE HAD ALL BETTER PRAY HE MAKES THE RIGHT DECISION, BECAUSE THOUSANDS, PERHAPS MILLIONS, OF LIVES COULD BE AT STAKE, NOT ONLY IN SOUTH KOREA, BUT POSSIBLY IN ONE OR MORE MAJOR AMERICAN CITIES. I’M CAL THOMAS IN WASHINGTON.
