What To Do About North Korea?

CAL THOMAS COMMENTARY APRIL 20, 2017

WHAT TO DO ABOUT NORTH KOREA? THE TRUMP ADMINISTRATION HAS UPGRADED THE RHETORIC AND SO HAS THE LITTLE DICTATOR, KIM JONG-UN, WHO HAS VOWED TO LAUNCH WEEKLY MISSILE TESTS IN DEFIANCE OF MEANINGLESS UN RESOLUTIONS AND THREATS FROM THE U.S.

LAST WEEKEND KIM TRIED FIRING TWO MISSILES AND EACH FAILED. THERE IS SPECULATION THE U.S. ENGAGED IN CYBER WARFARE TO MAKE THEM FAIL. THE TRUMP ADMINISTRATION IS SAYING NOTHING. A MISSILE DEFENSE SYSTEM HAS BEEN PLACED IN SOUTH KOREA. THE QUESTION IS: CAN CYBERBWARFARE AND MISSILE DEFENSE DETER KIM. I’M BETTING NOT.

CHINA APPEARS TO BE HELPING TO BRING PRESSURE ON ITS ALLY, BUT THAT MAY BE PROBLEMATIC. HAWAII IS TALKING ABOUT RESTORING BOMB SHLETERS THAT HAVE BEEN DORMANT SINCE THE 1980S. IF KIM GETS ICBMS AND PUTS NUCLEAR WARHEADS ON THEM HE COULD HIT HAWAII, OR EVEN THE WEST COAST. THAT CANT BE ALLOWED TO HAPPEN AND A PRE-EMPTIVE STRIKE MIGHT BE NECESSARY. WHAT THEN? WHAT ABOUT THE 28,000 U.S. TROOPS IN THE SOUTH AND THE POSSIBILITY THAT TENS OF THOUSANDS OF NORTH KOREAN SOLIERS MIGHT RUSH ACROSS THE BORDER?

BETTER MAKE THIS A MATTER OF PRAYER. I’M CAL THOMAS IN WASHINGTON.
