A Culture Of Violence

CAL THOMAS COMMENTARY MAY 23, 2018

WHAT TO SAY ABOUT THE LATEST SCHOOL SHOOTING IN TEXAS THAT HASN’T BEEN SAID BEFORE? THE SCENARIOS ARE FAMILIAR. THE LEFT DEMANDS MORE GUN LAWS, NEVER SAYING HOW OR WHY A NEW LAW WOULD SUDDENLY RESULT IN A LAWBREAKER OBEYING IT. THE RIGHT DEFENDS THE SECOND AMENDMENT.

THE 17-YEAR-OLD WHO SHOT AND KILLED TEN AND WOUNDED OTHERS USED HIS FATHER’S LEGALLLY OWNED SHOTGUN. TWO ARMED SECURITY OFFICERS STOPPED THE TEENAGER, SO THINGS COULD HAVE BEEN WORSE, BUT THAT IS LITTLE CONSOLATION TO THOSE WHO DIED AND WERE WOUNDED, OR THEIR LOVED ONES. THE FATHER MAY BE CHARGED FOR FAILURE TO SECURE HIS GUN AND IF THAT IS THE CASE HE SHOULD BE.

THE KILLER WAS A GOOD STUDENT AND AN ATHLETE WHO DID NOT UNTIL RECENTLY SHOW SIGNS OF A TROUBLED MIND.

THE SCHOOL HAD TAKEN SECURITY STEPS, BUT OBVIOUSLY NOT ENOUGH. THE GUN WAS NOT DETECTED. MAYBE SCHOOLS WILL HAVE TO STAGGER ENTRY TIMES AND USE METAL DETECTORS. NEW NRA HEAD OLIVER NORTH WAS RIGHT WHEN HE BLAMED A CULTURE OF VIOLENCE FOR THESE SCHOOL SHOOTINGS. I’M CAL THOMAS.
