Illegal Immigration Surge And The Vote

CAL THOMAS COMMENTARY MARCH 7, 2019

THE SENATE IS SCHEDULED TO VOTE NEXT WEEK ON A RESOLUTION PERTAINING TO PRESIDENT TRUMP’S NATIONAL EMERGENCY. AS USUAL WE FIND A FEW WIMPY REPUBLICANS WHO WILL VOTE “NO” WITH VIRTUALLY ALL DEMOCRATS.

THIS COMES AS DEMOCRATS CLAIM ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION IS DOWN SUBSTANTIALLY, BUT THE FACTS ARE THEY ARE SURGING. RECORD LEVELS, IN FACT, WITH MORE CARAVANS CONTAINING MORE BODIES OF PEOPLE WITH LOW OR NO SKILLS. CENTRAL AMERICA SEEMS TO BE EMPTYING THEIR COUNTRIES OF UNDESIRABLES AND PUTTING THEM ON OUR DOORSTEP.

THE WALL STREET JOURNAL REPORTS: “ARRESTS OF FAMILIES CROSSING THE U.S. BORDER ILLEGALLY IN THE PAST FIVE MONTHS HIT A RECORD, PROMPTING THE CHIEF OF CUSTOMS AND BORDER PROTECTION TO SAY THE SYSTEM IS AT THE ‘BREAKING POINT.’”

FROM OCTOBER THROUGH FEBRUARY, BORDER AGENTS ARRESTED MORE THAN 136,000 PEOPLE. THE PRIOR RECORD FOR A 12-MONTH PERIOD WAS MORE THAN 107 THOUSAND DURING THE FISCAL YEAR THAT ENDED LAST SEPTEMBER.

IF THIS ISN’T AN EMERGENCY, WHAT IS? VOTERS WILL BE WATCHING HOW REPUBLICAN SENATORS VOTE NEXT WEEK. I’M CAL THOMAS.
