Thankful for What?

CAL THOMAS COMMENTARY NOVEMBER 26, 2019

IN THIS WEEK WHEN WE CELEBRATE THANKSGIVING, GIVING THANKS TO GOD, OR ANYONE ELSE SEEMS IN SHORT SUPPLY. DEMANDS ARE THE NORM, ALONG WITH ENVY, GREED AND ENTITLEMENT.

IF WE CONSIDER WHAT SOME STILL ALIVE WENT THROUGH IN THE GREAT DEPRESSION AND TWO WORLD WARS; IF WE CONSIDER THAT A CENTURY AGO AND BEFORE, AMERICA AND MUCH OF THE WORLD HAD A MUCH LOWER LIVING STANDARD AND LIVED FEWER YEARS THAN WE DO; IF WE RECALL THAT NOT SO VERY LONG AGO, TRANSPORTATION OF ANY KIND WAS DIFFICULT AND INDOOR PLUMBING WAS UNHEARD OF; IF WE CONSIDER ALL THESE THINGS AND SO MUCH MORE – COMPARED TO TODAY DON’T WE HAVE MUCH FOR WHICH TO BE THANKFUL?

THEN THERE IS THE LARGER MATTER OF ETERNITY. SO MANY LIVE AS IF THERE WILL BE NO TOMORROW, NO EXISTENCE AFTER WE PASS FROM THIS LIFE. RESEARCH HAS REVEALED THAT 20 PERCENT OF “GENERATION Z” HAVE NO RELIGIOUS BELIEF AT ALL AND MANY OTHERS DON’T HAVE THE RIGHT ONE THAT LEADS TO SALVATION AND ETERNAL LIFE.

PONDER THESE THINGS THIS THANKSGIVING AND THANK THE ONE WHO HAS MADE EVERYTHING POSSIBLE. AND IT'S NOT A POLITICIAN! I’M CAL THOMAS.
