The Mueller Statement

CAL THOMAS COMENTARY MAY 31, 2019

THAT WAS A STRANGE APPEARANCE BY ROBERT MUELLER, THE NOW FORMER SPECIAL COUNSEL, WEDNESDAY AT THE JUSTICE DEPARTMENT. MUELLER SAID THE INDICTMENT OF RUSSIANS WHO HACKED INTO THE 2016 ELECTION WERE ALLEGATIONS AND “WE ARE NOT COMMENTING ON THE GUILT OR INNOCENCE OF ANY SPECIFIC DEFENDANT. EVERY DEFENDANT IS PRESUMED INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GULITY.”

UNFORTUNATELY, MUELLER DIDN’T APPLY THE SAME STANDARD TO PRESIDENT TRUMP. OF HIM, HE SAID, THERE WAS NOT ENOUGH EVIDENCE THE PRESIDENT OBSTRUCTED JUSTICE TO BRING AN INDICTMENT AND BESIDES TO DO SO WOULD BE UNCONSTITUTIONAL. THAT SOUNDS LIKE INNUENDO, NOT FACTS.

WHICH BEGS THE QUESTION: WHAT WAS THIS ALL ABOUT FROM THE START? THE OBVIOUS ANSWER: IT WAS ABOUT UNDOING THE RESULTS OF THE LAST ELECTION. CONSIDER THE LAWYERS WORKING FOR MUELLER. ALL DEMOCRATS AND SOME CONTRIBUTORS TO HILLARY CLINTON’S FAILED CAMPAIGN. NO SUGGESTION OF BIAS THERE, RIGHT?

MUELLER GAVE HOUSE DEMOCRATS AN INVITATION TO IMPEACH THE PRESIDENT, BUT I’M NOT SO SURE THEY WILL DO MORE THAN INVESTIGATIONS AND ACCUSATIONS. THAT’S WHAT ATTEMPTS TOP GET TRUMP’S PRE-PRESIDENTIAL TAX RECORDS IS ABOUT. I’M CAL THOMAS.
