CAL THOMAS COMMENTARY MARCH 9, 2018
IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A “BLUE WAVE.” THE PRIMARIES IN TEXAS ON TUESDAY WERE GOING TO SHOW THE COUNTRY AND THE WORLD THAT VOTERS ARE FED-UP WITH DONALD TRUMP AND READY TO RETURN DEMCRATS TO POWER. THE MEDIA SAID SO. DEMOCRATS SAID SO (SAME THING). EXPERTS SAID SO.
EXCEPT IT DIDN’T HAPPEN AND WHEN IT DIDN’T HAPPEN IT WAS DIFFICULT TO FIND A STORY THAT SAID SO IN THE MEDIA, OR AMONG EXPERTS, OR THAT DEMOCRATS WERE WRONG, AS THEY WERE IN THE 2016 ELECTION.
REPUBLICAN VOTER TURNOUT SET A RECORD. DEMOCRAT VOTERS WERE UP, TOO, BUT IT WASN’T A WAVE, ONLY A RIPPLE. DEMOCRATS TOOK SOLACE THAT TWO HISPANIC WOMEN WERE NOMINATED FOR CONGRESSIONAL SEATS. SENATOR TED CRUZ, WHO WAS SUPPOSED TO BE ANATHEMA TO TEXAS VOTERS, EASILY WON RENOMINATION. ONCE AGAIN, THE LIBERAL NARRATIVE FAILED TO DEVELOP.
THAT DOESN’T MEAN IT WILL CHANGE. LOOK FOR IT TO BE RECYCLED LEADING UP TO THE GENERAL ELECTION. IT DOESN’T MATTER HOW MANY TIMES POLLSTERS AND THE REST OF THE LEFT ARE WRONG. THEIR PREDICTIONS HAVE BECOME WISHFUL THINKING. KEEP THAT IN MIND AS YOU WATCH WHAT USED TO BE CALLED “NEWS” ON THE BROADCAST NETWORKS AND IN MAJOR NEWSPAPERS, WHICH INCREASINGLY LOOK LIKE PROPAGANDA. I’M CAL THOMAS IN WASHINGTON.
