CAL THOMAS COMMENTARY DECEMBER 24, 2018
THE WEEK BEFORE CHRISTMAS IS A TIME WHEN MOST PEOPLE TURN AWAY FROM POLITICS AND FOCUS ON LAST MINUTE SHOPPING, PARTIES, CHURCH SERVICES AND CAROLING.
THAT WAS NOT LAST WEEK. DEFENSE SECRETARY JAMES MATTIS ANNOUNCED HIS RESIGNATION BECAUSE OF DISPUTES WITH PRESIDENT TRUMP OVER TROOP PULLOUTS FROM SYRIA AND AFGHANISTAN. THE STOCK MARKET CONTINUED IN FREE FALL, INJURING THE PRESIDENT’S MAJOR REASON FOR HIS RE-ELECTION: THE ECONOMY.
THERE WAS FIGHTING BETWEEN THE WHITE HOUSE AND CONGRESS OVER FUNDING FOR THE WALL AND THE THREAT OF A SO-CALLED GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN. THE PUBLIC IS BEING GAMED BY ALL OF THIS. THE GOVERNMENT IS TAKING IN RECORD AMOUNTS OF MONEY DUE TO ALL THE NEW JOBS THAT HAVE BEEN CREATED.
ALL OF THIS IS TEMPORAL. WHAT WE OBSERVE TONIGHT – CHRISTMAS EVE – IS ETERNAL – THE BIRTH OF THE SAVIOR OF THE WORLD WHO CAME FROM HEAVEN TO DELIVER US FROM A CONDITION FROM WHICH WE COULD NOT POSSIBLY DELIVER OURSELVES – OUR SINFUL STATE. LET’S PAUSE AND REJOICE OVER THAT UNIQUE EVENT AND WORSHIP, NOT WASHINGTON, BUT JESUS. HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO ALL. I’M CAL THOMAS
