CAL THOMAS COMMENTARY JANUARY 16, 2019
TAKING ONE DAY AWAY FROM THE POLITICAL INFIGHTING I HAVE BEEN THINKING ON SOMETHING I WANTED TO SHARE WITH YOU.
WHY IS THERE A CULT OF YOUTH THAT SAYS YOUNGER PEOPLE ARE SMARTER AND SHOULD BE PAID MORE ATTENTION TO THAN OLDER PEOPLE? AS PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES ANNOUNCE WE HEAR THINGS LIKE WE NEED NEW BLOOD AND NEW IDEAS. NO WE DON’T. WE NEED THE WISDOM AND THE OLD IDEAS THAT HAVE A TRACK RECORD OF WORKING. THOSE ARE USUALLY FOUND IN OLDER PEOPLE WHO HAVE LIVED LONG ENOUGH NOT TO BE FOOLED BY SNAKE OIL SALESMEN TRYING TO DUPE A NEW GENERATION INTO BELIEVING OLD LIES.
I’M HEARING THAT OLD DEMOCRAT PHRASE “FAIR SHARE” RESURRECTED WHEN IT COMES TO TAXES. WHAT’S UNFAIR IS THE WAY GOVERNMENT MISSPENDS THE RECORD AMOUNTS OF OUR MONEY WE ARE GIVING THEM.
IN SCRIPTURE, WISDOM IS A PRIZE MOST DESIRED, BUT WHO SPEAKS OF WISDOM TODAY? MORE IMPORTANTLY, WHO TELLS THE YOUNGER GENERATION WHERE TO FIND IT?
A FAVORITE VERSE THAT MAKES MY POINT IS FOUND IN THE BOOK OF JOB, CHAPTER 12, VERSE 12: “IS NOT WISDOM FOUND AMONG THE AGED? DOES NOT LONG LIFE BRING UNDERSTANDING? SHARE THIS WITH YOUNG PEOPLE IN YOUR LIFE. I’M CAL THOMAS.
