PRESIDENT TRUMP IS DOING SOMETHING FORMER PRESIDENTS HAVE BEEN RELUCTANT – EVEN SCARED – TO DO. HE’S STANDING UP TO CHINA, WHICH HAS TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF THE U.S., NOT ONLY WHEN IT COMES TO TRADE, BUT BY STEALING OUR MILITARY SECRETS AND TECHNOLOGY AND SPYING.
THE PRESIDENT’S IMPOSITION OF TARIFFS ON CHINA IS RISKY, BUT IT COULD BE WORTH IT IF THE CHINESE ECONOMY SUFFERS AND ITS MORE THAN ONE BILLION PEOPLE SEE A DECLINE IN THEIR LIFESTYLES. IT’S TOUGH, AFTER ALL, TO GRAFT A CAPITALISTIC ECONOMIC SYSTEM ONTO A COMMUNIST POLITICAL SYSTEM.
THE WALL STREET JOURNAL REPORTS CHINA’S ECONOMIC ACTIVITY COOLED ACROSS THE BOARD LAST MONTH, UNDOING A BRIEF SURGE EARLIER IN THE YEAR AND RAISING QUESTIONS ABOUT THE NATION’S ECONOMIC VITALITY EVEN BEFORE HIGHER U.S. TARIFFS WERE IMPOSED.
CHINA HAS USED PROFITS FROM SELLING CHEAP STUFF TO AMERICA TO STRENGTHEN ITS MILITARY, THE WORLD’S LARGEST. WE ARE UNDERWRITING A NATION THAT IS AN ADVERSARY, IF NOT AN ENEMY. IF THESE TARIFFS WORK, IT WILL BE ANOTHER VICTORY FOR PRESIDENT TRUMP. BUT DON’T LOOK FOR ANY CREDIT FROM THE MEDIA OR DEMOCRATS. I’M CAL
