CAL THOMAS COMMENTARY SEPTEMBER 10, 2019
I SPENT LAST WEEKEND AT THE KENNEDY SCHOOL OF GOVERNMENT IN NEW ROSS, COUNTY WEXFORD, IRELAND. IN ADDITION TO PANELS AND SPEECHES ABOUT IRISH POLITICS THERE WAS MUCH TALK ABOUT PRESIDENT TRUMP – MOST OF IT NEGATIVE AS YOU MIGHT EXPECT – AND OF THE COMING U.S. ELECTION. MOST OF THE AUDIENCE — BUT NOT ALL — SEEMED LIBERAL, BUT ONE THING MADE AN IMPRESSION. IT WAS HOW LITTLE SEEMS TO CHANGE IN POLITICS. IT APPEARS WE ARE ALWAYS ARGUING ABOUT THE SAME THINGS.
WHY DON’T THINGS EVER IMPROVE? WHY ARE PROBLEMS NEVER SOLVED? WHY IS THE LEFT, ESPECIALLY, NEVER HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR FAILING TO FULFILL THEIR PROMISES, WHICH COST A LOT, BUT DELIVER LITTLE, EXCEPT FOR POLITICAL POWER.
POLITICS IS A DISTRACTION FROM WHAT REALLY MATTERS. WHAT REALLY MATTERS? IT IS THE KINGDOM THAT IS NOT OF THIS WORLD AND WHERE WE WILL SPEND ETERNITY, SOMETHING ABOUT WHICH POLITICIANS HAVE NOTHING TO SAY AND CANNOT ACHIEVE WITH THE TACTICS OF THIS WORLD. THAT’S NOT ONLY TRUE HERE IN IRELAND, BUT EVERYWHERE ELSE ON EARTH. I’M CAL THOMAS.
