CAL THOMAS COMMENTARY DECEMBER 11, 2019

THE SUPREME COURT ON MONDAY LET STAND A KENTUCKY LAW REQUIRING DOCTORS PERFORM ULTRASOUNDS AND SHOW FETAL IMAGES TO WOMEN BEFORE THEY CAN PERFORM ABORTIONS. THE COURT DECLINED WITHOUT COMMENT TO HEAR AN APPEAL BROUGHT BY THE ACLU ON BEHALF OF KENTUCKY’S ONLY ABORTION CLINIC.

THIS IS A HUGE VICTORY FOR THE PRO LIFE MOVEMENT, FOR BABIES AND FOR WOMEN WHO ARE OFTEN DENIED FULL INFORMATION ABOUT THE PROCEDURE AND ALTERNATIVES. I CALL IT ANOTHER OPPORTUNITY TO EMPOWER WOMEN WITH INFORMATION, SOMETHING THE PRO-CHOICERS HAVE LONG OPPOSED.

UNDER THE KENTUCKY LAW, A DOCTOR MUST DESCRIBE AN ULTRASOUND IN DETAIL WHILE THE WOMAN LISTENS TO THE FETAL HEARTBEAT. SURVEYS HAVE SHOWN THAT WHEN WOMEN SEE A PICTURE OF THEIR OWN BABY AND LISTEN TO ITS HEARTBEAT, AS MANY AS 90 PERCENT CHOOSE LIFE FOR THEIR BABY.

THIS IS AGAIN PROOF THAT ELECTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES. OUTGOING REPUBLICAN GOVERNOR MATT BEVIN, WHO WAS NARROWLY DEFEATED BY A DEMOCRAT IN LAST MONTH’S ELECTION, SIGNED THE MEASURE INTO LAW.

LOOK FOR OTHER STATES TO PASS SIMILAR LAWS, BUT THE FIGHT OVER WHO CREATES LIFE AND WHO CAN TAKE IT WILL CONTINUE. I’M CAL THOMAS.
