After the Violence What?

CAL THOMAS COMMENTARY JUNE 3, 2020

WHEN THE RIOTING AND DEMONSTRATIONS END – AND THEY WILL END – WHAT’S NEXT? SHOULD THE CLEANUP AND REBUILDING BE THE END OF IT? NOT THIS TIME. HERE’S WHAT I THINK SHOULD HAPPEN.

FEDERAL, STATE AND LOCAL AGENCIES SHOULD COORDINATE TO LISTEN TO THE GRIEVANCES OF THE BLACK COMMUNITY. IS SOMEONE WITHOUT A JOB? FIND ONE FOR THAT PERSON. DO THEY NEED TRAINING ON COMPUTERS, OR DEVELOP OTHER SKILLS? GIVE IT TO THEM. HOW ABOUT CHILD CARE FOR A SINGLE MOTHER WHO WANTS TO WORK? PROVIDE IT FOR HER UNTIL SHE IS ABLE TO PAY HERSELF.

THERE SHOULD BE FAMILY COUNSELING TO ESTABLISH OR PRESERVE FAMILIES, THEY KEY TO A STABLE LIFE AND A STABLE CULTURE.

THEN, SAD TO SAY, THE POLICE IN TOO MANY CASES HAVE STOOD BACK AND ALLOWED LOOTERS TO BREAK STORE WINDOWS AND STEAL ITEMS. THERE’S BEEN AN 80 PERCENT UPTICK IN GUN SALES? PEOPLE HAVE DECIDED IF POLICE CAN’T PROTECT THEM THEY WILL PROTECT THEMSELVES. THIS IS WHAT THE SECOND AMENDMENT IS ABOUT.

LET’S HOPE IT DOESN’T COME TO THAT BUT IF IT DOES WE SHOULD BE READY TO PROTECT OURSELVES FROM THESE CRIMINALS. I’M CAL THOMAS.
