CAL THOMAS COMMENTARY AUGUST 7, 2020
THE TESTIMONY BY FORMER DEPUTY ATTORNEY GENERAL SALLY YATES BEFORE THE SENATE JUDICIARY COMMITTEE WEDNESDAY MAY NOT HAVE BEEN RIVETING, BUT IT WAS INSTRUCTIVE.
YATES, TESTIFYING REMOTELY, TOLD CHAIRMAN LINDSEY GRAHAM THAT FORMER FBI DIRECTOR JAMES COMEY “WENT ROGUE” WHEN HE DISPATCHED AGENTS TO INTERVIEW MICHAEL FLYNN, THEN PRESIDENT TRUMP’S NATIONAL SECURITY ADVISER WITHOUT HER AUTHORIZATION.
THIS LED TO CHARGES THAT FLYNN LIED TO THE FBI ABOUT HIS CALLS TO RUSSIA’S AMBASSADOR AND THREATS AGAINST FLYNN THAT IF HE DIDN’T PLEAD GUILTY HE AND HIS FAMILY WOULD BE RUINED.
ATTORNEY GENERAL BARR THEN ABANDONED FLYNN’S CONVICTION AND AN APPEALS COURT PANEL IS NOW CONSIDERING WHETHER THAT DECISION IS LEGITIMATE. WHAT WAS NOT LEGITIMATE WAS THE SET-UP OF FLYNN WHO SHOULD BE EXHONERATED AND HIS LEGAL BILLS PAID FOR BY THE GOVERNMENT.
WE STILL AWAIT THE DURHAM REPORT THAT SHOULD TELL US WHETHER MAJOR PLAYERS IN THE RUSSIAN COLLUSION FIASCO WILL BE INDICTED. I’M NOT BETTING ON IT. THE DEEP STATE PROTECTS ITS OWN AND WITH FEW EXCEPTIONS, IT ALWAYS HAS. I’M CAL THOMAS.
