ACB – DAY TWO

CAL THOMAS COMMENTARY OCTOBER 15, 2020

DAY TWO OF THE AMY CONEY BARRETT HEARINGS REVEALED SOMETHING PROFOUND ABOUT THE JUDGE. SHE IS A NICE WOMAN. SHE IS KIND, RESPONDS GENTLY TO EVEN OUTRAGEOUS QUESTIONS AND STATEMENTS.

DEMOCRATS ON THE JUDICIARY COMMITTEE ARE POSTURING AND IN KAMALA HARRIS’ CASE, CAMPAIGNING, BUT JUDGE BARRETT STAYED CALM AND RAN CIRCLES AROUND THEM ALL WITHOUT NOTES.

WHAT THIS IS REALLY ABOUT – AND HAS BEEN ABOUT FOR YEARS – IS THE ROLE OF THE COURTS VS. THE ROLE OF CONGRESS. AS A WALL STREET JOURNAL EDITORIAL NOTED, A JUDGE’S ROLE “IS BASED ON WHAT THE LAW IS, NOT ON WHAT SHE WOULD WANT IT TO BE.” THE FUNNIEST MOMENT FOR ME WAS WHEN SENATOR HIRONO OF HAWAII ASKED JUDGE BARRETT IF SHE HAD EVER SEXUALLY ASSAULTED ANYONE. TALK ABOUT DESPERATION! IF THEY COULD FIND SOMEONE WHO COULD MAKE SUCH A CLAIM THEY WOULD AND MAYBE THEY WILL.

UNLESS A METEOR HITS THE COMMITTEE SHE WILL BE CONFIRMED. WHETHER PRESIDENT TRUMP WINS OR LOSES THE ELECTION, THE COURTS WILL BE HIS LEGACY. HE HAS FULFILLED HIS PROMISE AND DESERVES THANKS FOR DOING SO. I’M CAL THOMAS.
