Politicians Reflect Who We Are

CAL THOMAS COMMENTARY OCTOBER 20, 2020

THE YEAR WAS 1947, TWO YEARS AFTER THE END OF WORLD WAR TWO AND THE ALLIED VICTORY OVER NAZI GERMANY AND JAPAN.

CATHOLIC BISHOP FULTON SHEEN WAS A PROMINENT VOICE IN AMERICA WHO OFTEN SPOKE OF THE SPIRITUAL STATE OF AMERICANS AND HOW THAT IS REFLECTED IN LEADERSHIP.

WHAT HE SAID IN 1947 IS RELEVANT TODAY: “A NATION ALWAYS GETS THE KIND OF POLITICIANS IT DESERVES. IF A TIME EVER COMES WHEN THE RELIGIOUS JEWS, PROTESTANTS, AND CATHOLICS HAVE TO SUFFER UNDER A TOTALITARIAN STATE, WHICH WOULD DENY TO THEM THE RIGHT TO WORSHIP GOD ACCORDING TO THE LIGHT OF THEIR CONSCIENCE, IT WILL BE BECAUSE FOR YEARS THEY THOUGHT IT MADE NO DIFFERENCE WHAT KIND OF PEOPLE REPRESENTED THEM…AND BECAUSE THEY ABANDONED THE SPIRITUAL IN THE REALM OF THE TEMPORAL.”

PONDER THIS AND PRAY AS YOU PREPARE TO VOTE NOVEMBER THIRD, OR IF YOU ARE VOTING EARLY. GET A COPY OF IT FROM MY WEBPAGE AND SHARE IT WITH YOUR FRIENDS.

WHILE THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS NOT OF THIS WORLD, WE WILL ELECT A PRESIDENT AND MEMBERS OF CONGRESS WHO REFLECT WHO WE ARE. WHO ARE YOU? I’M CAL THOMAS.
