Election Day 2020

CAL THOMAS COMMENTARY NOVEMBER 3, 2020

THE DAY HAS FINALLY ARRIVED. WE’VE BEEN WAITING FOR IT FOR THE LAST FOUR YEARS AND SHORTLY AFTER THIS ELECTION IS OVER PEOPLE WILL BE TALKING ABOUT WHO SHOULD RUN IN 2024. IT REMINDS ME OF A VERSE IN SCRIPTURE: “ALWAYS LEARNING BUT NEVER ABLE TO COME TO A KNOWLEDGE OF THE TRUTH.

THAT’S TRUE OF MANY VOTERS WHO HAVE ALREADY CAST BALLOTS, OR WILL TODAY, FOR CANDIDATES WHO PROMISE THEM STUFF, BUT REQUIRE THEM TO DO NOTHING TO IMPROVE THEIR OWN LIVES.

I WAS REMINDED YESTERDAY IN A CHURCH SERMON THAT WE WHO ARE CHRISTIANS ARE MERELY SOJOURNERS PASSING THROUGH A FOREIGN LAND THAT IS NOT OUR HOME FOR AN ETERNAL DWELLING PREPARED FOR US. SOMETIMES IT’S HELPFUL TO TAKE OUR FOCUS OFF EARTHLY THINKS AND FOCUS ON WHERE IT BELONGS.

WHOEVER WINS TODAY, OR WHENEVER THE BALLOTS ARE COUNTED AND THE LAWSUITS DECIDED AND THE LIKELY RIOTING CEASES, GOD REMAINS IN CONTROL OF ALL THINGS. WHAT CAN YOU AND I DO BEYOND VOTING FOR THE CANDIDATES WHO BEST REFLECT OUR BELIEFS AND VALUES? I KNOW IT SOUNDS OBVIOUS, BUT PRAY. THERE IS POWER IN PRAYER, MUCH MORE THAN IN WASHINGTON. GOD MAKE AMERICA WORTHY OF YOUR BLESSING. I’M CAL THOMAS.
