Veto the Bill, Mr. President!

CAL THOMAS COMMENTARY DECEMBER 24, 2020

WHEN THE WORD “DISGRACE” IS OVER-USED, AS IT IS BY PRESIDENT TRUMP, IT CAN LOSE ITS IMPACT. BUT THE  PRESIDENT IS RIGHT TO USE IT WHEN REFERRING TO THE MASSIVE SPENDING BILL LOADED WITH CHRISTMAS ORNAMENTS CONGRESS HAS JUST AGREED TO. IT IS FULL OF PORK AND FOREIGN AID THAT HAVE LITTLE TO DO WITH RELIEF FOR THE UNEMPLOYED.

A PITTANCE GOES TO THE JOBLESS — $300 A WEEK FOR SOME, $600 A WEEK FOR OTHERS, BUT THE MASSIVE AMOUNTS GOING TO FOREIGN COUNTRIES AND PROJECTS IS DISGUSTING. WITH FEW EXCEPTIONS – SENATOR RAND PAUL BEING ONE OF THEM – NO ONE ASKS WHERE THE MONEY IS COMING FROM, OR WHO SLIPPED THESE ITEMS INTO THE BILL. IT WILL BE BORROWED WITH MORE INTEREST ADDED ON.

THE PRESIDENT SHOULD CALL A NEWS CONFERENCE AND READ FROM THE MORE THAN 5-THOUSAND PAGE BILL AND ASK AMERICANS IF THEY WANT OUR TAX DOLLARS GOING OVERSEAS AND MORE MONEY BORROWED FOR SUCH THINGS AS GENDER STUDIES IN PAKISTAN. IF CONGRESS WON’T COME BACK WITH A CLEAN AID BILL FOR STRUGGLING AMERICANS, THE PRESIDENT SHOULD VETO IT. NOT TO DO SO WOULD ADD TO THE DISGRACE. I’M CAL THOMAS.
