President Biden

CAL THOMAS COMMENTARY JANUARY 21, 2021

“JOE BIDEN BEGINS HIS PRESIDENCY AT A MOMENT OF DEEP POLITICAL DIVISION, BUT PARADOXICALLY THIS GIVES HIM A RARE OPPORTUNITY.” SO BEGINS THE LEAD EDITORIAL IN YESTERDAY’S WALL STREET JOURNAL. IT CONTINUES “HIS SUCCESS (ABOUT CREATING UNITY AND HEALING) WILL DEPEND ON RESISTING THE DIVISIVE PROGRESSIVE DOMINATION SOUGHT BY HIS PARTY’S LEFT.”

HE’S ALREADY MOVED LEFT ON SUCH THINGS AS FEDERAL FUNDING OF ABORTIONS, WHICH HE OPPOSED FOR 40 YEARS, ALLOWING MORE ILLEGALS INTO THE COUNTRY AND INCREASING TAXES, SPENDING AND GAY RIGHTS.

HE WILL RE-JOIN THE PARIS CLIMATE ACCORDS WHEN THE U.S. IS LOWERING EMMISSIONS BETTER THAN OTHER COUNTRIES. AND HE HAS PERHAPS THE MOST LIBERAL VICE PRESIDENT IN HISTORY TO PULL HIM FURTHER TO THE LEFT.

HE TALKS OF UNITY, BUT ON WHICH ISSUES WOULD HE COMPROMISE WITH REPUBLICANS? SO FAR HE HASN’T NAMED ONE. HEALING FROM WHAT? HE MEANS TRUMP’S PERSONALITY.

BIDEN WON’T SPEAK AS MUCH AS TRUMP DID AND THE ENTHUSIASM FOR HIM WILL BE NOTHING LIKE TRUMP’S CROWDS. SUCCESS IS A BETTER GOAL THAN SYMBOLISM AND TRUMP HAD SUCCESSES LIKE NO OTHER PRESIDENT. I’M CAL THOMAS.
