NY Times Blows It (Again)

CAL THOMAS COMMENTARY FEBRUARY 17, 2021

PERHAPS YOU HAVE HEARD OF THE ADAGE, “A LIE CAN TRAVEL HALF WAY ROUND THE WORLD BEFORE TRUTH CAN GET ITS BOOTS ON.”

THAT IS NEVER MORE TRUE THAN WHEN IT COMES TO THE MEDIA. THINGS GET PRINTED OR BROADCAST WHICH ARE LATER FOUND TO BE UNTRUE, BUT THE PUBLIC BELIEVES IT ANYWAY.

TAKE THE LATEST LIE PROMOTED AND NOW RETRACTED BY THE NEW YORK TIMES. THE PAPER – AND MUCH OF THE MEDIA FOLLOWED – CLAIMED CAPITOL POLICE OFFICER BRIAN SICKNICK WAS KILLED WHEN A PRO-TRUMP RIOTER STRUCK HIM IN THE HEAD WITH A FIRE EXTINGUISHER. THE PAPER HAS SINCE PRINTED A RETRACTION, SAYING “NEW INFORMATION” HAS EMERGED THAT QUESTIONS THE INITIAL CAUSE OF HIS DEATH PROVIDED BY OFFICIALS CLOSE TO THE CAPITOL POLICE. OFFICER SICKNICK DIED SEVERAL DAYS AFTER THE CAPITOL BREACH,

WHAT OFFICIALS AND HOW CLOSE WERE THEY? THE TIMES DOESN’T SAY. NO AUTOPSY HAS BEEN PUBLISHED AND NO CREDIBLE WITNESS HAS COME FORWARD TO SAY SICKNICK WAS HIT WITH A FIRE EXTINGUISHER. MAYBE THE TIMES WILL PROVIDE FURTHER DISINFORMATION. I’M CAL THOMAS.
