Back to Church

CAL THOMAS COMMENTARY JULY 1, 2021

THE PANDEMIC, WHICH IS EASING – ESPECIALLY FOR THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN VACCINATED – HAS TAKEN A TOLL ON SOME ESPECIALLY SMALLER CHURCHES. MANY PEOPLE HAVE GOTTEN USED TO SITTING AT HOME, WATCHING LIVE STREAMS OF THEIR SERVICE.

SOME SMALLER CHURCHES ARE CLOSING FOR LACK OF PEOPLE AND A DECLINE IN DONATIONS. APPARENTLY SOME PEOPLE ONLY GIVE WHEN THEY SHOW UP.

WE ARE TOLD IN SCRIPTURE NOT TO FORESAKE THE GATHERING OF OURSELVES TOGETHER IN WORSHIP. THERE ARE SEVERAL REASONS FOR THIS. FIRST, IT IS ENCOURAGING TO HEAR THE WORDS OF GOD PREACHED IN THE COMPANY OF OTHER BELIEVERS. SECOND, IT IS A KIND OF VACCINE AGAINST THE WORLD AND ITS KINGDOM, WHICH IS PASSING AWAY.

THIS, GATHERING TOGETHER ENCOURAGES OTHERS AND ESPECIALLY THE PASTOR. AND FOURTH, DONATIONS HELP KEEP GOING THE CHURCH AND ITS PROGRAMS FOR ADULTS, YOUTH AND CHILDREN.

MY CHURCH OFFERS FULLY UNMASKED SERVICES. OTHERS HAVE A DIFFERENT APPROACH, OFFERING SEVERAL OPTIONS, WITH AND WITHOUT MASKS. THERE ARE WAYS TO FEEL SAFE, BUT NOT ATTENDING WORSHIP SERVICES OUGHT NOT TO BE ONE OF THEM. GET BACK TO CHURCH THIS SUNDAY AND EVERY SUNDAY IF YOU CAN. GIVE OF YOURSELF AND TREASURE. I’M CAL THOMAS.
