CAL THOMAS COMMENTARY SEPTEMBER 22, 2021
MY FELLOW NEWSPAPER COLUMNIST GEORGE WILL OF THE WASHINGTON POST HAS WRITTEN
ANOTHER BOOK – HIS 16TH I THINK. IT’S ABOUT HIS OBSERVATIONS FROM ALMOST FIFTY YEARS AS AN
OPINION WRITER. WILL CONTENDS THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS IS HAPPINESS.
ONE MUST ALWAYS CONSIDER A PERSON’S WORLDVIEW, BECAUSE THAT COLORS EVERYTHING ELSE.
GEORGE HAS OPENLY DECLARED HIS ATHEISM. AS SCRIPTURE SAYS, “THE FOOL HAS SAID IN HIS HEART
‘THERE IS NO GOD’.”
HAAPINESS IS NOT A GOAL TO BE PURSUED. THAT IS LIKE GRASPING AT CLOUDS. PAUL, THE APOSTLE
OF JESUS, WAS RIGHT WHEN HE SAID HE HAD LEARNED TO BE CONTENT IN WHATEVER STATE HE WAS IN.
ARE THERE TIMES ONE SHOULD REJOICE AT BEING HAPPY? OF COURSE. BUT HAPPINESS COMES AND
GOES LIKE A SUGAR RUSH. CONTENTMENT IS BETTER BECAUSE IT IS NOT DEPENDENT ON
CIRCUMSTANCES, OR WHAT YOU DO FOR A LIVING.
BESIDES, WHEN LIFE IS OVER, WHAT THEN? WHERE WILL ALL ONE’S IDEAS, BOOKS AND COLUMNS BE?
THEY WILL BE FORGOTTEN, EVEN BY THOSE WHO READ THEM. PURSUE CHRIST AND HIS ASSURANCE FOR
HEAVEN. THERE YOU WILL FIND TRUE HAPPINESS. I’M CAL THOMAS.
