Law and Lawlessness

CAL THOMAS COMMENTARY WMAL MAY 12, 2022

ON A WASHINGTON, D.C. RADIO PROGRAM YESTERDAY MORNING, I WAS ASKED WHETHER I THOUGHT THE DEMONSTRATIONS OUTSIDE THE HOMES OF THREE CONSERVERATIVE SUPREME COURT JUSTICES MIGHT LEAD TO VIOLENCE. I WAS ALSO ASKED WHY THE BIDEN ADMINISTRATION ISN’T ENFORCING FEDERAL LAWS THAT CLEARLY PROHIBIT ATTEMPTS THROUGH DEMONSTRATIONS AND OTHER MEANS TO INFLUENCE A JUDGE.

MY RESPONSE WAS: IF THE ADMINISTRATION WON’T ENFORCE LAWS AGAINST ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION, THAT SENDS A MESSAGE TO PEOPLE THEY CAN IGNORE LAWS THEY DO NOT LIKE. LOOK AT THE LAWLESSNESS IN OUR STREETS – THE RIOTS AND BURNING DOWN OF BUILDINGS, THE SHOOTINGS IN OUR MAJOR CITIES, THE ATTACKS AND THREATS TO POLICE OFFICERS.

ALL OF THESE ARE CONNECTED. IF OUR ELECTED AND APPOINTED LEADERS REFUSE TO ENFORCE LAWS THEY DON’T LIKE, OR ARE AFRAID OF ENFORCING, THIS HAS AND WILL ULTIMATELY LEAD TO THE BREAKING OF OTHER LAWS. RESPECT FOR AND OBEDIENCE TO THE LAW LEADS TO RELATIVE PEACE AND SAFE STREETS. DISRESPECT AND DISOBEDIENCE LEADS TO WHAT WE ARE SEEING NOW OUTSIDE THESE JUSTICES’ HOMES WITH MORE AND POSSIBLY WORSE TO COME. I’M CAL THOMAS.
