CAL THOMAS COMENTARY MARCH 13, 2023
ANYONE LOOKING FOR THE BIDEN ADMINISTRATION’S REAL PRIORITIES IN HIS BUDGET PROPOSAL TO CONGRESS LAST WEEK SHOULD LOOK NO FURTHER THAN HIS USE OF THE FOLLOWING WORDS. THE PRESIDENT USED THE WORD “EQUITY” 63 TIMES, “TRANSGENDER” EIGHT TIMES AND “QUEER” SEVEN TIMES. FENTANYL GOT MENTIONED ONLY TWICE DESPITE IT KILLING 100 THOUSAND AMERICANS PER YEAR WHILE THE WORD “OPIOD” WAS USED JUST FOUR TIMES.
THEN WE HAVE THE FICTION THAT SPENDING MORE WILL REDUCE THE DEFICIT. THE PRESIDENT NEVER TALKS ABOUT THE DEBT, WHICH IS OVER $31 TRILLION. THE INTEREST ON THAT DEBT THIS YEAR IS PROJECTED TO BE $640 BILLION. THE TREASURY DEPARTMENT PAID A RECORD $213 BILLION JUST IN THE LAST QUARTER OF 2022.
WITH THE FEDERAL RESERVE SHOWING NO SIGNS OF SLOWING INTEREST RATE HIKES, IT’S CONTRIBUTING TO HIGHER HOME MORTAGE COSTS AND FEWER HOME BUYS, ALONG WITH HIGHER INTEREST RATES ON EVERYTHING ELSE AND A DROP IN THE STOCK MARKET, AFFECTING RETIREMENT SAVINGS. THE ADMINISTRATION ALSO WANTS TO TAX UNREALIZED CAPITAL GAINS, MEANING IF YOUR STOCK PORTFOLIO INCREASES THE GOVERNMENT TAXES THE INCREASE EVEN THOUGH YOU AREN’T TOUCHING THE MONEY.
WITH REPUBLICANS CONTROLLING THE HOUSE, THE BIDEN BUDGET WON’T PASS. I’M CAL THOMAS.
