SOFT ON CIRME IN DC

CAL THOMAS COMMENTARY DECEMBER 1, 2023

DAILY INCIDENTS OF SOMETIMES VIOLENT CRIME CONTINUE TO PLAGUE WASHINGTON D.C. AN FBI AGENT WAS RECENTLY CARJACKED. MEMBERS OF CONGRESS HAVE BEEN ATTACKED.

D.C. MAYOR MURIEL BOWSER HAS PROPOSED NEW LEGISLATION TO ATTACK THE PROBLEM. HER PROPOSALS INCLUDE DRUG FREE ZONES FOR FIVE DAYS IN RAVAGED AREAS, RELAXING RESTRUCTIONS ON POLICE NECK RESTRAINT PROCEDURES; MAKE LEADERS OF RETAIL THEFT CREWS LIABLE FOR UP TO TEN YEARS IN JAIL AND ALLOW FELONY CHARGES AGAINST PEOPLE WHO STEAL AT LEAST TEN TIMES OVER 30 DAYS WITH A TOTAL VALUE OF $250 OR MORE.

SO I GUESS IF LOOTERS LOOT JUST NINE TIMES OVER 29 DAYS FOR ITEMS WORTH $249 THEY CAN GET AWAY WITH IT?

A CRIME IS A CRIME AND SHOULD NOT BE CATEGORIZED FOR THE SAKE OF THE CRIMINAL. WHAT ABOUT BUSINESSES? HAVE THEY NO RIGHTS?

TOUGHER LAWS ARE GOOD AS LONG AS THEY ARE ENFORCED, BUT WASHINGTON, LIKE OTHER CITIES, HAVE LIBERAL DA’S WHO RELEASE LAW VIOLATORS ON LITTLE OR NO BAIL TO COMMIT NEW CRIMES.

AS PROVERBS 29:18 SAYS: WHEN PEOPLE DO NOT ACCEPT DIVINE GUIDANCE, THEY RUN WILD. BUT WHOEVER OBEYS THE LAW IS JOYFUL. I’M CAL THOMAS.
