JFK’S ASSASSINATION PLUS 60 YEARS

CAL THOMAS COMMENTARY NOVEMBER 22, 2023

SIXTY YEARS AGO TODAY PRESIDENT JOHN F, KENNEDY WAS MURDERED IN DALLAS. SO MUCH INK HAS BEEN SPILLED SINCE THEN, BOOKS HAVE BEEN WRITTEN AND SCENARIOS OFFERED FOR WHAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN HAD HE NOT DIED. NO ONE REALLY KNOWS AND SPECULATION IS MEANINGLESS.

KENNEDY WAS A STAUNCH ANTI-COMMUNIST, WHICH IS WHY HE APPROVED THE DISASTROUS BAY OF PIGS INVASION.

HE WAS ALSO A TAX CUTTER AND PROMOTER OF FREE ENTERPRISE, SOMETHING THAT DOESN’T REFLECT HIS MODERN PARTY. HE PROBABLY COULDN’T GET THE DEMOCRATIC PRESIDENTIAL NOMINATION IN TODAY’S TOXIC POLITICAL ENVIRONMENT.

KENNEDY CONVEYED YOUTH AND OPTIMISTISM ON THE OUTSIDE, BUT HE WAS DEEPLY FLAWED WITHIN. HIS NUMEROUS AFFAIRS WOULD COME OUT LATER THANKS TO A MASSIVE MEDIA COVER-UP. YET HIS YOUTH AND FRIENDLY PERSONALITY ENCOURAGED MANY PEOPLE TO GO INTO THE PEACE CORPS AND PUBLIC SERVICE.

ANY MURDER IS A TRAGEDY AND KENNEDY’S DEATH WAS FOLLOWED BY THE MURDERS OF HIS BROTHER ROBERT AND MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR.

JFK’S ASSASSINATION STILL INSPIRES CONSPIRACY THEORIES, BUT IT OUGHT TO FOCUS OUR MINDS ON THE BREVITY OF LIFE, NO MATTER HOW LONG OR HOW SHORT IT IS. I’M CAL THOMAS.
