CAL THOMAS COMMENTARY SEPTEMBER 30, 2024
ONE PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE WANTS TO RAISE TAXES, THE OTHER WANTS TO MAINTAIN THE CURRENT TAX CUTS AND CUT THEM MORE. SPENDING, NOT REVENUE IS THE PROBLEM, BUT CONSIDER THIS: THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT BLOWS NEARLY HALF A MILLION DOLLARS EVERY MINUTE OF EVERY DAY ON ERRONEOUS PAYMENTS, ACCORDING TO A NEW REPORT BY OPEN THE BOOKS, A WATCHDOG GROUP.
TO THE GOVERNMENT THEY’RE KNOWN AS “IMPROPER PAYMENTS.” SOME ARE MISTAKES TO A SOCIAL SECURITY OR WELFARE RECIPIENT. BUT MUCH IS OLD-FASHIONED FRAUD.
OPEN THE BOOKS SAYS THE BIDEN ADMINISTRATION IS ON TRACK TO OVERSEE $1 TRILLION IN IMPROPER PAYMENTS DURING ITS TIME IN OFFICE. ADJUSTED FOR INFLATION THAT WOULD BE NEARLY $200 BILLION MORE THAN UNDER FORMER PRESIDENT TRUMP. THAT’S STILL TOO MUCH.
OPEN THE BOOKS SAYS AT THE CURRENT RATE THE GOVERNMENT LOSES (OR RATHER YOU AND I LOSE BECAUSE IT’S OUR MONEY THEY ARE WASTING), $7500 EACH SECOND, OR $450,000 PER MINUTE.
THIS IS WHY A COMPLETE AUDIT OF THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT IS NECESSARY, AS FORMER PRESIDENT TRUMP HAS PROMISED IF HE’S RE-ELECTED. IT HAS TO STOP. IT WON’T IF THE TAX AND SPENDERS CONTINUE. I’M CAL THOMAS.
