THANKSGIVING 2024

CAL THOMAS COMMENTARY NOVEMBER 28, 2024

TAKING THINGS FOR GRANTED, OR COMPLACENCY, IS A FLAW COMMON TO A LOT OF AMERICANS. IF WE WERE BORN HERE AND HAVE LIVED HERE MOST OF OUR LIVES, WE CAN’T IDENTIFY WITH THE SUFFERINGS AND LACK OF FREEDOM IN TOTALITARIAN COUNTRIES AND THOSE DOMINATED BY RELIGIOUS FANATICS, LIKE IRAN.

WE SHOULD BE THANKFUL TO GOD THIS THANKSGIVING DAY, WHO HAS PLACED US HERE. BUT WE SHOULD NOT BE COMPLACENT ABOUT IT. ACT AS IF YOU ARE GRAETFUL FOR WHAT YOU HAVE AND DEMONSTRATE YOUR GRATITUDE BY HELPING SOMEONE ELSE – WITH A KIND WORD, OR SOME FINANCIAL SUPPORT IF YOU CAN AFFORD IT. I REMEMBER WHEN PEOPLE COMMITTED ACTS OF KINDNESS WHEN I NEEDED IT MOST, AND I HAVE TRIED TO RECIPROCATE WHEN I SEE OTHERS WHO NEED A BOOST.

OUR FREEDOMS ARE A GIFT FROM OTHERS WHO PAID A PRICE FOR THEM. BE THANKFUL FOR THEM AND IF YOU KNOW A VETERAN OR SOMEONE CURRENTLY IN SERVICE, THANK THEM.

AS WITH PRESIDENTS AND ORDINARY PEOPLE HAVE DONE IN THE PAST, THANK GOD, WHO IS THE SOURCE OF OUR MANY BLESSINGS AND TRY TO GET ALONG WITH PEOPLE OF A DIFFERENT PERSUASION AT THE DINNER TABLE. I’M CAL THOMAS.

Thanksgiving Greetings Cal……Recently I read a poem by U.S. Army Veteran Charles Michael Province who writes:
It is the soldier not the minister who has given us freedom of religion.
It is the soldier, not the reporter who has given us freedom of the press.
It is the soldier, not the poet who has given us freedom of speech.
It is the soldier, not the campus organizer who has given us freedom to protest
It is the soldier, not the lawyer who has given us the right to a fair trial
It is the soldier, not the politician who has given us the right to vote
It is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protester to burn the flag
