THE DC AIRPORT CRASH

CAL THOMAS COMMENTARY JANUARY 31, 2025

FLYING IS SAID TO BE THE SAFEST WAY TO TRAVEL. UNTIL IT ISN’T.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT, A PSA COMMUTER JET OPERATED BY AMERICAN AIRLINES WAS HIT BY AN ARMY HELICOPTER AND CRASHED JUST SHY OF LANDING AT REAGAN NATIONAL AIRPORT IN WASHINGTON. IT WAS JUST 400 FEET ABOVE THE RUNWAY WHEN IT WAS STRUCK. 64 PEOPLE WERE ON BOARD INCLUDING FOUR CREW MEMBERS. THERE WERE NO SURVIVORS.

THE PLANE WAS TRAVELING FROM WICHITA, KANSAS TO DC.

THERE ARE SO MANY QUESTIONS. DID EITHER AIRCRAFT HAVE A CRASH AVOIDANCE SYSTEM? WHY DIDN’T THE HELIOPTER PILOT HEED THE WARNING FROM ATC AND TURN AWAY? WHY DIDN’T THE PILOT OF THE COMMUTER JET TAKE EVASIVE ACTION?

THERE HASN’T BEEN A MAJOR AIRCRAFT CRASH IN THE U.S. SINCE 2009. THAT’S FIFTEEN YEARS OF SAFETY.

FEW OF US CAN PREDICT THE TIME OF OUR PASSING FROM THIS EARTH, BUT ALL WILL. THAT’S WHY IT’S CRITICAL TO BE PREPARED TO MEET GOD. PRAY FOR THOSE WHO LOST LOVED ONES. I’M CAL THOMAS.
