CAL THOMAS COMMENTARY APRIL 3, 2025
THERE ARE AT LEAST TWO CONSTANTS IN WASHINGTON. ONE IS THE MEDIA NEVER CHANGE. THE SECOND IS NEITHER DO LIBERAL DEMOCRATS. BUT I REPEAT MYSELF.
THE MEDIA DID THEIR USUAL BUILDUP TO TUESDAY’S ELECTIONS IN FLORIDA AND WISCONSIN. THEY SAID THE ELECTIONS WOULD BE A TEST TO SEE IF VOTERS WERE CHANGING THEIR MINDS ABOUT PRESIDENT TRUMP’S POLICIES. BOTH HOUSE RACES IN FLORIDA WERE WON BY REPUBLICANS. THE MEDIA RESPONSE? ONE OF THOSE HAD A SMALLER MARGIN OF VICTORY THAN BEFORE.
IN WISCONSIN, WHERE A LIBERAL WOMAN WON A SEAT ON THE STATE SUPREME COURT, THE MEDIA FOCUSED ON ELON MUSK POURING $20 MILLION INTO THE CONSERVATIVE CANDIDATE’S CAMPAIGN. THEY SAID NOTHING ABOUT LARGER AMOUNTS OF MONEY COMING FROM CALIFORNIA AND OTHER OUTSIDE SOURCES.
THE NEW YORK TIMES SAID WISCONSIN GAVE DEMOCRATS A “PSYCHOLOGICAL BOOST.” MEANWHILE, NEW JERSEY SENATOR COREY BOOKER SETS A RECORD FOR SPEAKING ON THE SENATE FLOR, TRASHING TRUMP AND MUSK, AND THE MEDIA TREAT HIM AS DANIEL WEBSTER AND OTHER GREAT ORATORS OF THE PAST. GIVEN THE LEFT’S CRUSHING DEFEAT IN THE LAST ELECTION, YOU MIGHT THINK THEY WOULD CHANGE TACTICS AS WELL AS POLICIES. BUT THEY NEVER CHANGE. I’M CAL THOMAS.
