“POLITICAL VIOLENCE HAS BECOME A TERRIFYING FACT OF AMERICAN LIFE,” READ THE HEADLINE IN THE WALL STREET JOURNAL. THE MURDER OF TURNING POINT USA FOUNDER CHARLIE KIRK IS ONLY THE LATEST EXAMPLE.
DETAILS ARE YET TO COME AS I RECORD THIS, BUT HERE ARE SOME FACTS: KIRK WAS A THREAT TO THE POLITICAL LEFT BECAUSE HE WAS ABLE TO INTRODUCE TRUTH TO YOUNG PEOPLE WHO WERE BEING TOLD A BUNCH OF LIES BY THEIR PROFESSORS, CERTAIN WEBSITES AND SOME OF THEIR FELLOW STUDENTS.
KIRK WOULD INVITE STUDENTS WHO DISAGREED WITH HIM TO COME TO THE FRONT AND THEY WOULD HAVE A CIVIL DEBATE. THIS IS WHAT UNIVERSITIES USED TO PROMOTE UNTIL RECENT YEARS WHEN CONSERVATIVE SPEAKERS HAVE BEEN SHOUTED DOWN, BANNED FROM CAMPUSES, DENIED HONORARY DEGREES, AND NOW SHOT TO DEATH.
I FEEL FOR HIS WIFE AND TWO YOUNG CHILDREN WHO DESERVED TO GROW UP WITH THEIR LOVING FATHER.
I FEAR FOR THIS NATION BECAUSE WE ARE DESCENDING INTO A PIT OF DRKNESS OCCUPIED BY SATAN WHO KNOWS HIS DAYS ARE NUMBERED. THE ONLY CONSOLATION IS THAT CHARLIE KIRK WAS A STRONG BELIEVER IN JESUS AND IS WITH HIM NOW, PRAY FOR HIS FAMILY. I’M CAL THOMAS.
As I read of the sickening murder of this articulate young man, Charlie Kirk, I thought of Proverb 11:29, “He that troubleth his own house shall inherit the wind.” As the rhetoric turns nastier, I’m also reminded of a book written by Eric Hoffer, The True Believer, which describes the mindset of extremists who get caught up in radical movements trying to attach themselves to some cause which will justify their twisted sense of worthlessness. When politicians and others begin demonizing those who disagree with them, the atmosphere is ripe for encouraging damaged minds to do really bad things. My heart goes out to Charlie’s family & friends…God bless!
