No Deal

CAL THOMAS COMMENTARY AUGUST 21, 2018

YOU MAY HAVE HEARD ABOUT ANDREW BRUNSON, THE AMERICAN PASTOR WHO HAS BEEN HELD IN CAPTIVITY FOR MANY MONTHS BY THE TIRKISH GOVERNMENT. PASTOR BRUNSON HAS BEEN FALSELY ACCUSED OF AIDING A GROUP THAT SOUGHT TO OVERTHROW THE TURKISH GOVERNMENT OF REYCEP ERDOGAN.

NOW TURKEY ANTS A DEAL. OFFICIALS SAY THEY WILL RELEASE PASTOR BRUNSON IF TURKEY GETS RELIEF FROM SANCTIONS IMPOSED ON A TURKISH BANK, WHICH FACES BILLIONS OF DOLLARS IN U.S. FINES FOR VIOLATING SANCTIONS AGAINST IRAN.

U.S. OFFICIALS HAVE SAID NO DEAL AND NO DISCUSSION UNTIL PASTOR BRUNSON IS RELEASED. THE TURKISH GOVERNMENT RECENTLY MOVED HIM FROM A CELL TO A HOUSE WHERE HE REMAINS CONFINED, BUT STILL SEPARATED FROM HIS WIFE AND CHILDREN.

TOTALITARIAN REGIMES MAKE A PRACTICE OF ARRESTING INNOCENT PEOPLE TO FURTHER THEIR OWN AGENDAS. PASTOR BRUNSON HAS BEEN SEPARATED FROM HIS WIFE AND CHILDREN FOR MONTHS, A PAWN IN AN INTERNATIONAL STRUGGLE BETWEEN AN INCREASINGLY ISLAMIC FUNDAMENTALIST NATION AND WESTERN VALUES. PASTOR BRUNSON AND HIS FAMILY ARE DESERVING OF OUR PRAYERS. THE U.S. GOVERNMENT SHOULD KEEP-UP THE PRESSURE ON TURKEY. I’M CAL THOMAS.
