A Chance to Limit Baby Killing

CAL THOMAS COMMENTARY MAY 19, 2021

THE SUPREME COURT HAS AGREED TO HEAR A CASE FROM MISSISSIPPI THAT COULD BE THE FIRST SERIOUS CHALLENGE TO ROE VS. WADE IN A LONG TIME.

THE MISSISSIPPI LAW WOULD BAN MOST ABORTIONS AFTER 15 WEEKS OF A PREGNANCY. THERE ARE THE USUAL EXCEPTIONS. SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY HAVE ADVANCED SIGNIFICANTLY SINCE 1973 WHEN ROE WAS DECIDED BY A 7-2 MAJORITY. IT STRUCK DOWN EVERY STATE LAW RESTRICTING OR BANNING THE PROCEDURE. BABIES NOW SURVIVE AT EARLIER STAGES OUTSIDE THE WOMB. THE MISSISSIPPI LAW SIMPLY RECOGNIZES THAT FACT.

THE LEFT AND THEIR MEDIA ALLIES ARE ALREADY DENOUNCING THE COURT FOR TAKING THE CASE AND THE LOBBYING OF AT LEAST THREE CONSERVATIVES JUSTICES, WHO ARE CATHOLICS, WILL BE INTENSE. WE’LL HEAR AGAIN ABOUT RETURNING TO BACK ALLEY ABORTIONS AND RUSTY COAT HANGERS. BUT 60 MILLION BABIES HAVE BEEN KILLED.

HERE’S A LAW THAT WOULD WORK: MANDATORY SONOGRAMS SO WOMEN SEE THEIR BABIES. OVER NINETY PERCENT OF THOSE WHO DO, CHOOSE LIFE. MEANWHILE, THE COURT SHOULD UPHOLD MISSISSIPPI. I’M CAL THOMAS.
