CAL THOMAS COMMENTARY JULY 12, 2022
THE U.S. STATE DEPARTMENT IS SENDING $500 THOUSAND OF MONEY WE DON’T HAVE TO PROMOTE THE RIGHTS OF ATHEISTS IN THE NEAR EAST AND SOUTH-CENTRAL ASIA.
THE WASHINGTON TIMES REPORTS THE GRANTS ARE DESIGNED TO ALLOW “MEMBERS OF MINORITIES AND MARGINALIZED GROUPS – PARTICULAR ATHEISTS AND NON-BELIEVERS TO NETWORK AND CAMPAIGN FOR THEIR FREEDOM.
REPUBLICAN CONGRESSMAN JIM BANKS OF INDIANA AND 14 OF HIS COLLEAGUES HAVE SIGNED A LETTER TO PRESIDENT BIDEN AND SECRETARY OF STATE BLINKEN WHICH SAYS: “IT IS ONE THING FOR THE STATE DEPARTMENT TO BE TOLERANT AND RESPECTFUL OF A WIDE RANGE OF BELIEF SYSTEMS AND TO ENCOURAGE GOVERNMENTS TO RESPECT THE RELIGIOUS FREEDOM OF ITS CITIZENS. IT IS QUITE ANOTHER FOR THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT TO WORK ACTIVELY TO EMPOWER ATHEISTS, HUMANISTS, NON-PRACTICING AND NON-AFFILIATED IN PUBLIC DECISION-MAKING.”
WHERE IS CHURCH-STATE SEPARATION WHEN YOU NEED IT? YOU KNOW HOW THE SECULAR LEFT WOULD REACT IF A REPUBLICAN ADMINISTRATION WAS USING TAX MONEY TO PROMOTE THE CHRISTIAN FAITH, SAY, IN CHINA. THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD BE CUTTING SPENDING, NOT ADDING MORE TO THE DEBT. AND IT CERTAINLY SHOULD NOT BE PROMOTING ATHEISM. I’M CAL THOMAS.
