AMERICANS HAVING FEWER BABIES

CAL THOMAS COMMENTARY APRIL 29, 2024

WHILE MUCH OF THE MEDIA IS FOCUSED ON FORMER PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP’S NEW YORK TRIAL AND THE SUPREME COURT HEARING ON PRESIDENTIAL IMMUNITY, SOMETHING ELSE IS HAPPENING IN AMERICA THAT WILL LIKELY HAVE A MORE LONG-TERM EFFECT.

THE U.S. BIRTHRATE HAS DROPPED TO ITS LOWEST POINT IN MORE THAN 100 YEARS. THIS COULD AFFECT AMERICA’S ECONOMIC FUTURE, AMONG OTHER THINGS.

ACCORDING TO THE CENTERS FOR DISEASE CONTROL AND PREVENTION, BIRTH CERTIFICATES TALLIED NEARLY 3.6 MILLION BIRTHS LAST YEAR, DOWN TWO PERCENT FROM 2022.

THE REASONS ARE NOT HARD TO DISCERN. ABORTION IS NUMBER ONE. WITH THE PILL NOW READILY AVAILABLE, WOMEN CAN ABORT THEIR CHILDREN AT HOME.

ANOTHER REASON, REPORTS THE WALL STREET JOURNAL, ARE CAREERS FOR WOMEN WHO ARE HAVING CHILDREN IN THEIR 30’S AND 40’S, OR NOT AT ALL. AND ANXIETY ABOUT BRINGING CHILDREN INTO AN INCREASINGLY TROUBLED WORLD.

MUSLIM NATIONS CONTINUE TO HAVE FAR MORE CHILDREN THAN AMERICA. AND WITH SO MANY COMING INTO OUR COUNTRY (SEE MICHIGAN AS JUST ONE EXAMPLE) THE LONGTERM SOCIAL AND POLITICAL EFFECTS OF OUR LOW BIRTH RATES MAY BE SEVERE. I’M CAL THOMAS.
