HONORING VETERANS

CAL THOMAS COMMENTARY NOVEMBER 11, 2024

LET’S TAKE A BREAK FROM POLITICS, AT LEAST FOR ONE DAY. NOVEMBER 11 WAS FIRST CALLED ARMISTICE DAY TO RECOGNIZE THE END OF WORLD WAR ONE. BUT AFTER A SECOND WORLD WAR IT BECAME VETERANS DAY TO HONOR ALL WHO SERVED AND GAVE UP SO MUCH SO THE REST OF US – AND THEM, TOO – WOULD HAVE MORE: MORE FREEDOM, MORE PROTECTION FROM OUR ENEMIES, MORE PROSPERITY.

SINCE THE ALL-VOLUNTEER MILITARY, VETERANS AREN’T TREATED AS WELL AS THEY ONCE WERE. TOO MANY ARE HOMLESS, AS JUST ONE EXAMPLE. LEFT WINGERS HAVE POPULATED THE TROOPS WITH TRANSGENDERS, GAYS, AND HEAVY DOSES OF DEI. AS A RESULT, RECRUITMENTS ARE DOWN AND IT IS NOT WRONG TO SPECULATE ABOUT READINESS. OUR ADVERSARIES ARE NOT PRACTICING WHAT WE ARE. THEY ARE GROWING STRONGER AND MORE AGGRESSIVE. WE SEEM TO BE GROWING WEAKER AND HAVING LESS PURPOSE.

MAYBE THAT WILL CHANGE UNDER THE NEW ADMINISTRATION. MEANWHILE, LET’S RE-VISIT WHAT MADE OUR VETERANS SO GREAT. ASK THEM WHY THEY INVESTED SO MUCH IN OUR COUNTRY. LISTEN TO THEIR STORIES AND TELL THEM TO A YOUNGER GENERATION.

IT’S VETERANS DAY. GIVE THEM THE HONOR AND RESPECT THEY ARE DUE. I’M CAL THOMAS.
