CAL THOMAS COMMENTARY NOVEMBER 19, 2024
THERE IS A REASON THE FOUNDERS WROTE THE ADVICE AND CONSENT CLAUSE IN THE CONSTITUTION TO GIVE POWER TO THE SENATE TO SCREEN PEOPLE THE PRESIDENT APPOINTS TO CABINET POSITIONS AND OTHER HIGH OFFICES. THIS BALANCE OF POWER IS SUPPOSED TO PROTECT US FROM PEOPLE WHO ARE INEXPERIENCED, INCOMPETENT, OR MORALLY UNFIT.
THIS IS WHY FOUR OF PRESIDENT TRUMP’S NOMINEES NEED SCRUTINY. PETE HEGSETH FOR SECRETARY OF DEFENSE, MATT GAETZ FOR ATTORNEY GENERAL, RFK, JR. FOR HHS SECRETARY, AND TULSI GABBARD TO HEAD DNI SHOULD BE QUESTIONED NOT ONLY ABOUT THEIR QUALIFICATIONS, BUT ALSO THEIR MORAL CHARACTER.
YES, THINGS NEED TO BE SHAKEN-UP IN WASHINGTON AND CORRUPTION WEEDED-OUT, BUT BY THE RIGHT PEOPLE.
THE SENATE SHOULD DO ITS JOB AND NOT ALLOW FOR RECESS APPOINTMENTS. THE NOMINEES OUGHT TO BE ABLE TO SAY WHY THEY ARE THE BEST CHOICES TO LEAD AND REFORM THE AGENCIES TO WHICH THEY HAVE BEEN NOMINATED.
PROVERBS 15:22 SAYS “GET ALL THE ADVICE YOU CAN, AND YOU WILL SUCCEED; WITHOUT IT YOU WILL FAIL.” AND PROVERBS 13:13-21 SAYS: “IF YOU REFUSE GOOD ADVICE, YOU ARE ASKING FOR TROUBLE; FOLLOW IT AND YOU ARE SAFE.”
LET THE SENATE DO ITS CONSTITUTIONAL JOB FOR THE GOOD OF THE COUNTRY. I’M CAL THOMAS.
