TRUMP’S WRONG THEOLOGY

CAL THOMAS COMMENTARY AUGUST 22, 2025

PRESIDENT TRUMP PHONED INTO “FOX AND FRIENDS” TUESDAY AND TALKED ABOUT HEAVEN AND HIS HOPE OF GETTING THERE AFTER HE DIES. BUT HE’S WORRIED HE MIGHT NOT MAKE IT. UNFORTUNATELY, THE PRESIDENT’S THEOLOGY WAS OFF THE MARK.

HE TIED HIS ENTRY INTO HEAVEN TO THE RUSSIA-UKRAINE WAR, SPECULATING THAT IF HE SETTLED THAT CONFLICT THAT MIGHT SEAL THE DEAL FOR HIM. NOW, HE SAID, HE IS “AT THE BOTTOM OF THE TOTEM POLL.”

HE BELIEVES HIS MOTHER IS IN HEAVEN, BUT HIS FATHER MIGHT NOT HAVE MADE IT. THE PRESIDENT GAVE NO REASONS FOR HIS THINKING.

SADLY, THIS IS WORKS-BASED THEOLOGY WHICH SCRIPTURE SAYS HAS NO VALUE BEFORE A HOLY GOD. IF WORKS WERE ENOUGH TO GET US INTO HEAVEN, CHRIST CAME AND DIED FOR NOTHING. BUT JESUS SAID NO ONE COMES TO THE FATHER BUT THROUGH HIM. AND PAUL WROTE IN EPHESIANS 2:8-9: “FOR IT IS BY GRACE YOU HAVE BEEN SAVED THROUGH FAITH, AND THIS NOT FROM YOURSELVES; IT IS THE GIFT OF GOD, NOT BY WORKS, SO THAT NO ONE CAN BOAST.

SADLY, MANY CHRISTIANS BELIEVE IN WORKS SALVATION. CHRISTIANS WORK IN THE WHITE HOUSE. EVANGELISTS HAVE CONTACT WITH THE PRESIDENT. FOR HIS SAKE I HOPE SOMEONE TELLS HIM THAT JESUS ALONE IS HIS TICKET TO HEAVEN AND NOTHING ELSE. I’M CAL THOMAS.

We all are nothing without faith in Christ. However, one must allow Paul to complete his thought. He continues in Ephesians 2:10, “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”

Jesus addresses the seven churches in Revelation 2 and 3. He speaks of “works” in each, whether good or bad. For those who believe in the heretical “fly away” doctrine, they like to ignore this book.

As James 2:26 says, “For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.” In fact, he addresses works in the entire chapter.

Granted, President Trump certainly doesn’t outwardly appear to be a Christian, but I believe God is working in his life. I continue to pray for him and all the inhabitants on this planet that they will come to love the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth before it’s too late.
