Trump vs. Who?

CAL THOMAS COMMENTARY MARCH 5, 2019

THERE IS A DEBATE WITHIN EVANGELICAL CIRCLES AS TO HOW MUCH LOYALTY SHOULD BE GIVEN TO PRESIDENT TRUMP. ONE SIDE SAYS IT’S THE POLICIES THAT COUNT, NOT HIS PERSONAL LIFE. THE OTHER SAYS THAT CHRISTIANS ARE DILUTING THE POWER OF THEIR FAITH BY THEIR LOYALTY TO A MAN WHO DISPLAYS FEW, IF ANY, OF THE CHARACTER QUALITIES THEY ONCE REGARDED AS SUPREME WHEN IT CAME TO BILL CLINTON’S PRIVATE BEHAVIOR.

IF YOU WILL READ MY COLUMN TODAY IN YOUR NEWSPAPER IF THEY CARRY IT, OR ON MY WEBSITE, YOU WILL SEE MY POSITION, BUT TO SUMMARIZE: IF THE CHOICE IS BETWEEN CAPITALISM AND SOCIALISM, BETWEEN OPEN BORDERS AND CONTROLLED IMMIGRATION, BETWEEN HIGHER OR LOWER TAXES, BETWEEN CONSERVATIVE JUDGES AND LIBERAL ONES, BETWEEN FEWER OR MORE ABORTIONS – I’M GOING WITH THE POLICIES.

SURE IT WOULD BE NICE OF A MAN LIKE MIKE PENCE – A ONCE MARRIED, CHURCH-GOING, SOLID BELIEVER WERE PRESIDENT WITH THE SAME POLICIES AS PRESIDENT TRUMP. BUT HE ISN’T AND TRUMP WITH ALL HIS FLAWS IS THE ONLY THING STANDING AGAINST A SOCIALIST GOVERNMENT.

REMEMBER THAT JESUS SAID HIS KINGDOM IS NOT OF THIS WORLD. PONDER THAT THOUGHT. I’M CAL THOMAS.
