Preparing for Death

CAL THOMAS COMMENTARY FEBRUARY 22, 2021

THE HEADLINE IN THE RELIGION SECTION OF THE WASHINGTON POST SAID THIS: “ASH WEDNESDAY RITUALS TWEAKED FOR CORONAVIRUS AS CHRISTIANS ARE REMINDED OF DEATH.”

SCRIPTURE SPEAKS OFTEN OF DEATH. WE SHOULD BE MORE FOCUSED ON WHAT HAPPENS AFTER DEATH. WHERE WILL WE SPEND ETERNITY AND HOW DO WE GET TO THE RIGHT DESTINATION?

THE DEATH OF RUSH LIMBAUGH SHOCKED MANY PEOPLE, BUT WE KNEW IT WAS COMING. HE TOLD US. PEOPLE DIE EVERY DAY. SOME MAKE THE OBITUARY PAGE IN YOUR LOCAL NEWSPAPER IF THEY WERE FAMOUS, OR ACCOMPLISHED.

SCRIPTURE SAYS IT IS APPOINTED UNTO MAN ONCE TO DIE AND AFTER THAT THE JUDGMENT. PAUL WRITES THAT FOR THE BELIEVER, LOVED ONES DO NOT GRIEVE AS UNBELIEVERS DO, BECAUSE WE HAVE A HOPE ROOTED IN THE SACRIFICE OF JESUS OF NAZARETH WHO GAVE UP HIS EARTHLY LIFE ON THE CROSS SO WE MIGHT ENJOY ETERNAL LIFE WITH HIM.

THE OLD “TOUCHED BY AN ANGEL” TV SERIES HAD THE ANGEL OF DEATH SAY: “DEATH IS NOTHING TO FEAR, BUT IT IS SOMETHING TO PREPARE FOR.” ARE YOU PREPARED? ARE YOU SURE? I’M CAL THOMAS.
