THE TRUMP INDICTMENT AND CHARACTER

CAL THOMAS COMMENTARY APRIL 3, 2023

LET’S SAY CRITICS OF MANHATTAN DISTRICT ATTORNEY MICHAEL BRAGG ARE CORRECT – THAT THE INDICTMENT OF FORMER PRESIDENT AND CURRENT CANDIDATE DONALD TRUMP IS A POLITICAL PROSECUTION; THAT BRAGG LETS VIOLENT CRIMINALS OFF TO COMMIT NEW CRIMES; HE’S A GEORGE SOROS PROSECUTOR; THE STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS HAVE RUN OUT AND THAT IT ‘S BAD FOR THE COUNTRY.

THERE IS A MORE IMPORTANT ISSUE TO CONSIDER.

LISTEN TO THE DEFINITION OF THE WORD “CHARACTER”: “THE AGGREGATE OF FEATURES AND TRAITS THAT FORM THE INDIVIDUAL NATURE OF SOME PERSON OR THING.”

DOES ANY OF TRUMP’S DEFENDERS ARGUE HE HAS GOOD CHARACTER?

THERE ARE MANY BIBLICAL VERSES THAT OFFER THE ULTIMATE DEFENSE AGAINST DOING THINGS THAT HARM ONE’S CHARACTER. AMONG THEM IS PROVERBS 22:1 – “CHOOSE A GOOD REPUTATION OVER GREAT RICHES; BEING HELD IN HIGH ESTEEM IS BETTER THAN SILVER OR GOLD.”

VERSE 5; “CORRUPT PEOPLE WALK A THORNY, TREACHEROUS ROAD.”

PROVERBS 4:23 SAYS “ABOVE ALL ELSE GUARD YOUR HEART, FOR IT DETERMINES THE COURSE OF YOUR LIFE.”

THE CASE AGAINST TRUMP IS WEAK AND THERE MAY BE MORE SERIOUS INDICTMENTS TO COME, BUT TRUMP’S CHARACTER HAS PUT HIM IN THIS POSITION. REMEMBER THAT. I’M CAL THOMAS.

Very good article. Now what we need is to reaffirm your post-January 6 article calling the evangelical embrace of Trump a Faustian bargain. Also helpful would be to drop the word caustic in favor of criminal. I have spent years wishing I could vote for Republican policies without Trump’s criminality.

    Afternoon,
What remains of our legal system is relevant to the character of our nation. It’s officers should not be elected as New York’s state constitution allows for, but alas, we are stuck with any character that holds the office of prosecutor. And therefor brings us to this.
Was never a big fan of Gerald Ford , but this is poignant.

Thanks and keep up the good work,
