CAL THOMAS COMMENTARY APRIL 12, 2023
ANOTHER DAY, ANOTHER MASS SHOOTING. THIS ONE WAS IN LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY. POLICE SAY A DISGRUNTLED FORMER EMPLOYEE OPENED FIRE AT THE BANK WHERE HE USED TO WORK AND KILLED AT LEAST FOUR PEOPLE, WOUNDING AT LEAST EIGHT OTHERS, INCLUDING TWO POLICE OFFICERS.
THIS COMES JUST TWO WEEKS AFTER THE SHOOTING AT A NASVHILLE CHRISTIAN SCHOOL. WAS THIS A COPYCAT? WAS HE INSPIRED BY OTHER MASS SHOOTINGS HE HAD SEEN ON TV? WE MAY NEVER KNOW BECAUSE THE SHOOTER IS DEAD. POLICE KILLED HIM , BUT UNFORTUNATELY NOT BEFORE HE CAUSED MAYHEM.
IT WAS THE 15TH MASS SHOOTING THIS YEAR. THE GUNMAN USED AN AR-15 RIFLE, WHICH HAS BECOME THE PREFERRED WEAPON FOR THESE KILLERS.
WHAT IS WRONG WITH US? WHAT IS WRONG WITH AMERICA? NO OTHER SUPPOSEDLY CIVILIZED COUNTRY HAS THIS HAPPENING TO THEM. WHY AMERICA?
EVIL STALKS OUR LAND WHERE GOOD ONCE MOSTLY PREVAILED. WE PROMOTE THINGS GOD CALLS ABOMINATIONS. DID WE THINK HE COULD BE MOCKED AND THAT WE COULD AVOID THE CONSEQUENCES? I DON’T KNOW THE ANSWER, UNLESS IT IS PRAYER AND REPENTANCE FOR OUR COLLECTIVE GUILT BEFORE A HOLY GOD. I’M CAL THOMAS.

We need to address moral illness, not mental illness. “Moral illness” has become a chronic problem in our society where some people decide to perpetrate actions that used to be unthinkable. I have ideas on many of the influences that have contributed to this moral illness in our society, but it goes beyond “mental illness”. Guns are not the problem: it is how some morally ill people have decided how, when, and where to use them.
