MEXICO WON’T COOPERATE ON BORDER

CAL THOMAS COMMENTARY NOVEMBER 29, 2024

PRESIDENT-ELECT DONALD TRUMP ANNOUNCED THAT MEXICAN PRESIDENT CLAUDIA SHEINBAUM HAD AGREED TO HIS REQUEST TO CURTAIL MIGRANTS FROM ILLEGALLY ENTERING THE UNITED STATES. SHORTLY AFTER THAT ANNOUNCEMENT, SHEINBAUM DENIED SHE HAD SAID ANY SUCH THING AND CLAIMED THAT MEXICO’S POLICY NOT TO DETER THE MIGRANTS IS BASED ON “HUMAN RIGHTS” AND THE DIGNITY OF THE MIGRANTS.

SHE ALSO CLAIMED THAT IMPOSING TARIFFS ON MEXICO WOULD COST THE U.S. TENS OF THOUSANDS OF JOBS, MAYBE MORE. SHEINBAUM SAID: “WE REITERATE THAT MEXICO’S POSITION IS NOT TO CLOSE BORDERS BUT TO BUILD BRIDGES BETWEEN GOVERNMENTS AND BETWEEN PEOPLES.”

I WONDER HOW SHE WOULD FEEL IF HER COUNTRY WAS BEING INVADED AS OURS IS?

WE CAN LOOK FOR MORE OF THIS RESISTANCE FROM TRUMP’S ENEMIES, SOME OF WHOM ARE THREATENING VIOLENCE AGAINST HIS CABINET PICKS. GOVERNORS AND MAYORS IN SOME BLUE STATES ARE THREATENING TO RESIST EFFORTS TO DEPORT EVEN CRIMINAL ALIENS WHO HAVE RAPED AND MURDERED U.S. CITIZENS.

THE ANSWER: FINISH THE WALL, SECURE THE BORDER AND DEPORT THE ILLEGALS. IF PRESIDENT SHEINBAUM WON’T COOPERATE, SHE SHOULD PAY A PRICE. I’M CAL THOMAS.
